What I Wish I Could Tell Every Overwhelmed Parent

If you’re a parent, you already know how quickly stuff fills your home. Sometimes, it feels like it starts before your baby even arrives. Gifts from baby showers, presents from family and friends, hand-me-downs, birthday surprises, holiday toys, school artwork, the inflow never really stops.
And then there’s the sheer exhaustion of managing it all. Keeping your little one fed, dressed, and happy, remembering PE kits, attending school events, and somehow just surviving the day-to-day chaos. It’s a lot to carry.
If you’re like many parents I meet, you might find yourself staring at the messy playroom, the overflowing wardrobe with clothes your child has already outgrown, or the living room that no longer feels like a calm space. You might be feeling overwhelmed, guilty, and pressured, wanting things to be different but unsure where to start or how to find the time.
Here’s what I want you to know: It’s okay to feel this way. It’s normal to feel exhausted and unsure. You are not failing.
The constant cycle of stuff coming in and the struggle to keep order amidst everything else doesn’t reflect a lack of love or care. It’s a sign of how much you’re carrying, and sometimes, you just need a hand.
The Little Ones: Born from One Parent’s Need
This is exactly where my service, The Little Ones, began. One client reached out to ask if I could help with her daughter’s wardrobe and toys. She had been given over five huge Ikea bags of handed-down clothes, an amazing gift, but overwhelming for a mum of a six-month-old.
The sizes were mixed, conditions varied from brand new to ‘nursery days only,’ and she wanted them sorted by age so she could easily find what was practical and suitable. After just one session, she felt lighter, calmer, and everything seemed more manageable. That’s when I thought: More parents need this.
Since then, I’ve been privileged to support many families in reclaiming peace in their children’s spaces, allowing parents to breathe easier and focus on what truly matters.
What Happens in a Little Ones Session?
In one focused, in-home session, I work with you to:
Clear out clothes that no longer fit or aren’t practical anymore
Organise current and future wardrobe items smartly, including vacuum-packing and labelling those “growing-into” pieces for easy access
Sort through toys with care, involving children where appropriate, so they feel happy with the process
Take away everything you’re ready to donate, removing that task from your to-do list
Create a space that’s simple to maintain, giving you back precious time and peace of mind
There’s no judgement, no pressure, just support because you deserve to feel calm in your home again.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Parenting is hard enough without the added weight of clutter and chaos. If you ever feel like this is too much, remember: it’s okay to ask for help. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for your family is to invite support in.
If this sounds like something you need, or if you want to learn more about how I can help, check out the Little Ones service.
Remember, you’re doing your best and sometimes, the best thing is to reach out.
