Top 5 Mistakes People Make Selling on Vinted (And How to Fix Them)

Selling on Vinted can be a fantastic way to clear unwanted items and make some extra money, but it’s not always as simple as just uploading items and waiting for the sales to roll in.
I’ve seen plenty of sellers get stuck, discouraged, or frustrated because of a few common mistakes. Here’s what to watch out for and some practical fixes that actually work.
Mistake #1: Pricing Too Low And Expecting More Money
Ever ordered something from Temu and thought you got a bargain, only to be disappointed by the poor quality? Or hired a builder who gave you a cheap quote but never showed up on time and did a shoddy job?
It’s the same on Vinted.
Some sellers think pricing items super low will make them sell faster. But buyers often expect low prices to mean there’s something wrong with the item.
Instead, do your research. Look up the original retail price (RRP), see what similar items in comparable condition are selling for, and price your items accordingly.
I’ve sold everything from £10 tops to £200 designer pieces like Gucci for clients. Don’t be afraid to list above what you want to sell for, if you want £50, try listing at £55 or £60. This leaves room for offers while still getting the price you want.
Mistake #2: Getting Discouraged When Sales Don’t Happen Fast
Uploading 20 items and selling only one in four weeks can feel disheartening, but slow sales are often about more than just the number of listings.
Check if your descriptions include keywords buyers search for. Are you responding quickly to questions and offers? Have you tried Vinted’s paid options to boost your listings?
Remember, selling is a skill and sometimes it takes a bit of time and tweaking.
Mistake #3: Taking Lowball Offers Personally
Lowball offers happen, it’s part of selling online. But don’t let them discourage you or sour your experience.
Always respond politely with a counter-offer instead of just declining. Sometimes buyers just want to test the waters.
Decide what’s more important to you: having the item sold and the money in your account, or holding out and potentially keeping clutter you don’t want.
Don’t fight over small differences. A few pounds here and there won’t make or break you.
Mistake #4: Ignoring Items That Have Favourites
If an item has been favourited but hasn’t sold, it might be time to reduce the price slightly. Vinted will notify those who favourited it, giving your listing fresh visibility.
For higher-value items, consider deleting, re-photographing, and re-uploading to bump the listing back to the top of the algorithm. This takes effort, but can pay off.
Mistake #5: Not Using Vinted’s Paid Boosting Features
Vinted offers options like “Showcase” to boost your shop or listings, helping you reach more potential buyers.
Using these strategically can make a difference, especially if you’ve done the basics right with photos, descriptions, and pricing.
